Last week, I had a little fun poking at advanced analytics initiatives that ignored data quality as a fundamental tenet of the effort. (In case you missed it, you can see it here).
One of our customers sent me back some great feedback how sometimes an advanced analytics effort is the ONLY thing that can get the right people to the table and how it can focus data quality efforts on the data that is most important for the effort.
As has been stated, you have to eat the elephant one bite at a time.
